Full-time About the Opportunity Strategic Placement Partners is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing company in the high-voltage electrical construction, utility, and storm restoration industry. With field operations across multiple states, the company is looking for a hands-on Controller to oversee its accounting operations, manage day-to-day cash activity, and keep financial reporting accurate and on schedule. This is an active, hands-on role—not a CFO position. The right person will be comfortable owning the books, managing the monthly close, handling banking and cash reporting, and working directly with company ownership and operations. What You'll Do Own full-cycle bookkeeping and the monthly financial close. Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements, including the P&L, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows. Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, account reconciliations, and fixed assets and depreciation. Oversee revenue recognition, including storm restoration and utility projects. Reconcile payroll and support payroll processing, including new-hire setup, timesheet review, and final processing. Manage certified payroll and related reporting. Coordinate tax preparation and requests with the company's outside CPA. Handle day-to-day banking, weekly cash reporting, and lender and credit support. Prepare bank applications and respond to lender inquiries. Manage insurance reporting and related requests. Support storm planning and job-level financial analysis during periods of increased activity. Work closely with ownership and operations to provide timely, accurate financial information. What We're Looking For Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Senior Accountant ready to take the next step. Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting and monthly close processes. Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, reconciliations, and cash management. Ability to manage accounting tasks directly without relying on a large accounting team. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a disciplined approach to financial controls. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Strong communication skills and the ability to work directly with ownership and operational teams. Preferred Experience Construction, utility, union, or field-services accounting experience. Familiarity with revenue recognition for project-based work. Experience with certified payroll, lender reporting, or multi-state operations.
