Onsite, with some flexibility as needed Are you a hands-on construction accounting leader ready to take ownership of accounting operations and help strengthen a department? We are recruiting for a Controller on behalf of a well-established construction organization in the Mechanicsburg area. This role is ideal for someone with strong construction accounting experience who can combine technical accounting knowledge with leadership, process improvement, and a hands-on approach. The Controller will oversee accounting functions, support financial reporting, improve WIP and job cost processes, and help stabilize and develop the accounting team. The company is looking for someone who can operate at both a strategic and tactical level — someone comfortable digging into the details while also partnering with leadership on reporting, controls, process improvements, and long-term department development. What You'll Do Oversee accounting operations and month-end close processes Prepare and review account reconciliations, consolidations, and financial reporting Manage WIP schedules, completed contract schedules, job costing, and project billing Support fixed asset schedules, cash monitoring, and financial analysis Supervise AP, AR, payroll/timekeeping, and related accounting functions Strengthen accounting procedures, documentation, reporting, and internal controls Partner with project managers on job cost budgeting, cost projections, change orders, and billings Coordinate with banks, bonding companies, CPA firms, insurance providers, and other outside partners Support year-end financial statement and tax preparation processes Help improve systems, processes, and reporting tools Lead, mentor, and develop accounting team members What We're Looking For Construction accounting experience required Strong job cost, WIP, project accounting, and financial reporting experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field Strong technical accounting knowledge and GAAP understanding Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred Experience with construction ERP systems required; Viewpoint Vista strongly preferred Advanced Excel skills Ability to improve processes and support continued department growth Why This Opportunity Stands Out Key leadership role with visibility to company leadership Opportunity to help shape the accounting department Hands-on role with meaningful impact on WIP, reporting, controls, and team development Stable, well-established, family-led construction organization Fully paid medical benefits for individuals and their families Generous PTO Performance-based annual bonus potential 401(k) with company match Dedicated private office Flexible start/end times and occasional work from home flexibility as needed Apply today!
