full-time A Newton, MA-based private equity investment firm is seeking a Controller on a permanent basis. The individual in this role will be responsible for supervising all daily accounting and finance operations of the firm. The individual in this role will have oversight of all the daily accounting and finance functions of the firm, which includes oversight of a diverse investment portfolio. The ideal candidate will have strong technical tax expertise, public accounting firm experience, and a solution-oriented mindset. This is a hybrid position, working in Newton, MA Monday - Thursday and remotely on Fridays. Responsibilities Direct the end-to-end preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring precision and timely delivery. Apply a deep tax mindset, advising on complex transactions, high-net-worth individual portfolios, trusts, and pass-through entities. Guarantee full adherence to federal, state, and local tax regulations through proactive monitoring and filing. Design and maintain a rigorous internal control environment to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity of financial data. Conduct deep-dive reviews of financial results to analyze variances against budgets and reporting benchmarks. Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes to provide leadership with actionable insights for long-term strategic planning. Execute comprehensive financial due diligence to evaluate the viability and risks of potential new investments. Act as the primary point of contact for lenders, investors, and legal counsel regarding financial reporting, compliance, and audits. Assist with preparing tax returns and coordinating complex tax filings. Qualifications 4+ years of public accounting experience 7+ years of accounting and tax experience Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc. CPA Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills
