DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Key Details Supervisor | Director of Operations Compensation | $30,000 - $40,000 Hours | Half-time, salaried Location | In-person / hybrid (Chicago) Start Date | April 2026 Role Summary The Greenhouse Movement is seeking a Director of Finance to oversee the organization's financial systems, controls, and reporting in support of our mission as a Christian non-profit. This role is responsible for ensuring financial clarity, accuracy, and integrity across multiple entities and platforms, while building durable systems that can scale with future growth. Position may vary based on candidate experience and the final role required. Qualifications Requirements unique to this role 5+ years experience in financial management (non-profit / church contexts preferred) B.A. in business, finance, or a related field (CPA preferred) High level of integrity, judgment, and attention to detail Engaging and cooperative leadership style Proficient in GAAP, internal controls, Quickbooks, and Excel Requirements for all Greenhouse staff Active Christian faith Member of a local church Agreement with Greenhouse Covenant for faith and conduct Participation in the shared spiritual life of the organization (including prayer and worship) Responsibilities Financial Oversight Provide key controls for separation of duties, financial accuracy, and policy adherence. Ensure compliance withGAAP, IRS
requirements, and best practices. Team Leadership Supervise 2 direct reports (see below), providing guidance, training, and accountability. Clearly translate financial information for non-finance colleagues. Reporting Prepare intuitive reports and dashboards to monitor key financial metrics. Lead budgeting and forecasting processes. Systems Development Streamline, automate, and redesign processes to increase efficiency and scalability. Optimize the clarity and UX of all spreadsheets, dashboards, and tools. Documentation Create and maintain up-to-date documentation for all financial workflows. Develop protocols sufficient for discontinuity prevention. Team Members Director of Operations — Signing authority for accounts payable. Bookkeeper — Quickbooks journal entries, classification, and reconciliation. Finance Assistant — Data entry for accounts receivable and payable.
