Full-Time | On-Site Only About Us We are a leading excavation and site development contractor delivering high-quality projects across the region. We're looking for a hands-on Financial Controller to lead our accounting, job costing, and financial reporting operations. If you have construction accounting experience and enjoy working closely with project teams to keep projects profitable, this role is for you. What You'll Do As our Financial Controller, you will: Oversee full accounting operations: AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and job cost accounting. Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and monitor project profitability. Track budgets, costs, and margins for excavation and site development projects. Collaborate with project managers and estimators to capture labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs accurately. Develop and manage budgets and cash flow forecasts to support operations and capital needs. Oversee payroll processing for field and shop personnel, including certified payroll when required. Monitor equipment costs, utilization, maintenance, and depreciation. Review subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and insurance certificates for compliance. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and bonding agents for reporting and audits. Lead and mentor accounting staff, promoting accuracy and accountability. Who You Are Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred). 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction experience strongly preferred . Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition. Proficient with construction accounting software (Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor, Viewpoint, or similar). Skilled at analyzing financial data and providing insights to leadership. Experienced in equipment cost tracking and capital budgeting. Collaborative mindset with the ability to work closely with project teams. Working Conditions Full-time, on-site position in Ewing, IL. Standard business hours with occasional extended hours during month-end, year-end, or major project reviews. This role is NOT remote. Pay is based on experience and qualifications.
