Job Description

Role Snapshot Oak Hill Contractors LLC is hiring a Financial Controller to ensure dependable construction financial reporting and help leadership make confident decisions. This senior, on-site role owns the accounting function end-to-end and strengthens controls that protect company resources. Key responsibilities include leading the monthly close and producing monthly/quarterly/annual statements; managing job costing, WIP schedules, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition; guiding budgeting, cash-flow forecasting, and capital planning; and coordinating with external accountants, auditors, and bonding partners. As our Financial Controller, you will: Oversee full accounting operations: AP, AR, payroll, general ledger, and job cost accounting. Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements Maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and monitor projects Collaborate with project managers and estimators to capture labor, equipment, material, and subcontractor costs accurately. Develop and manage budgets and cash flow forecasts to support operations and capital needs. Monitor equipment costs, utilization, maintenance, and depreciation. Review subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and insurance certificates for compliance. Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets. Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and bonding agents for reporting and audits. Lead and mentor accounting staff, promoting accuracy and accountability.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred) 5+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction experience strongly preferred Strong command of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting Experience with construction accounting software (Sage 300 CRE, QuickBooks Contractor, Viewpoint, or similar) Ability to translate financial data into practical insights; collaborative style with project teams If you're ready to lead with accuracy and steady judgment, apply for the Financial Controller position. Benefits Overview Medical, Dental, and Vision coverage, plus a 401(k) plan and Paid Time Off. A Typical Workday Your day is mostly spent on-site, moving between focused desk work and quick check-ins with operations. You'll start by reviewing prior-day activity and prioritizing what needs to be finalized for clean reporting. Midday often includes brief conversations with project teams to clarify cost coding and timing, then time blocked for analysis and schedule updates. Later, you'll prepare items needed for leadership review—clear summaries, variance notes, and next-step questions—before wrapping up with follow-ups and planning tomorrow's close/forecasting work. The rhythm is steady and deadline-driven, with frequent moments where your clarity keeps projects and cash planning on track.
