$35-$50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications Help Build the Finance Office of a Growing Company Swift & Gentle Moving & Storage is seeking an experienced finance professional to help build and lead the financial infrastructure supporting the next stage of our growth. This is not a traditional bookkeeping position. We are looking for an organized, analytical, and self-directed professional who can build financial systems, improve reporting, strengthen cash-flow management, and help leadership make better business decisions. The person selected for this role will work directly with the CEO and collaborate with our current bookkeeper during the onboarding and transition process. The position will initially support Swift & Gentle Moving & Storage, with the potential to expand across future acquisitions and additional operating companies. Primary Responsibilities Financial Planning and Forecasting Develop and maintain the company's annual operating budget Prepare monthly and quarterly financial forecasts Build and update a rolling 13-week cash-flow forecast Develop cash projections and identify potential shortfalls before they occur Prepare financial scenarios to support hiring, equipment, pricing, and investment decisions Financial Analysis Analyze revenue, expenses, margins, and operating performance Evaluate labor costs, cost per move, revenue per truck, and profitability by service Review budget-versus-actual results and explain material variances Identify cost-saving opportunities, financial risks, and areas of margin leakage Provide practical recommendations to improve profitability and cash flow Executive Reporting Prepare a concise weekly financial package for the CEO that includes: Revenue and profitability Cash position and available runway Updated 13-week cash-flow forecast Budget-versus-actual performance Accounts receivable and accounts payable Labor and operating cost trends Truck and service-line profitability Key financial risks, observations, and recommended actions Accounting and Financial Operations Oversee and coordinate accounts payable Review vendor invoices and maintain the payment calendar Support accurate and timely bill payment Review bookkeeping activity and financial records Work with the current bookkeeper during training and transition Assist with account reconciliations and month-end close Improve documentation, controls, and financial procedures Coordinate with outside accountants, tax professionals, and other advisors as needed Strategic Finance and Growth Support Support the CEO with acquisition analysis and financial due diligence Assist with financial modeling for future businesses and investments Evaluate financing, capital expenditures, and expected returns Help create reporting systems capable of supporting multiple operating companies Assist with the future financial integration of acquired businesses Systems and Process Development Build financial dashboards and KPI reports Improve the company's chart of accounts and reporting structure where needed Create budgeting, forecasting, and financial-analysis templates Develop standard operating procedures for the finance function Establish a reliable financial calendar for weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting Initial Priorities During the first 90 days, the successful candidate will be expected to: Learn the company's bookkeeping and financial processes Complete training and knowledge transfer with the current bookkeeper Review the existing books, reporting structure, and financial controls Implement a dependable rolling 13-week cash-flow process Establish a weekly executive reporting package Begin building the annual operating budget Identify immediate financial risks, reporting gaps, and process improvements Recommend a trusted financial thought partner to the CEO Qualifications Required Demonstrated experience in accounting, financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, controllership, or FP&A Strong working knowledge of financial statements and cash-flow management Advanced proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and manage confidential financial information Clear written and verbal communication Proven ability to meet recurring reporting deadlines Comfortable working directly with business ownership and senior leadership Preferred Controller, Assistant Controller, CFO, Finance Director, FP&A, Senior Accountant, or public-accounting experience Experience supporting a privately owned or entrepreneurial business QuickBooks Online experience Experience developing 13-week cash-flow forecasts Experience building budgets, dashboards, and management reporting Acquisition, due-diligence, or multi-entity
