Reporting directly to the President/Ownership, this hands-on role bridges strategic financial leadership with rigorous daily accounting execution. The VP Finance / Senior Controller will oversee the accounting function, including direct supervision of the Assistant Controller, Staff Accountant, A/P and A/R, inventory accounting, monthly close procedures, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Executive Strategy & Ownership Advisory Serve as a core member of the executive leadership team, shaping overall corporate strategy, expansion models, and business transformations. Advise ownership on capital allocation, dividend/distribution strategies, liquidity, and long-term financial planning. Partner with ownership on multi-year growth strategies, tax planning, profit distribution models, and long-term capital allocation. Strategic Planning & Capital Management Maintain and enhance dynamic cash flow models to optimize liquidity, working capital, and debt structures. Lead external financial relationships, serving as the primary liaison for banking partners, external auditors, lending institution audits, inventory appraisals, and insurance companies. Develop and monitor financial forecasts and long-term financial models. Asset-based lending experience a plus. Financial Reporting & Operational Cost Analysis Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting and oversee the complete month-end close process. Track, analyze, and report on monthly sales, margins, COGS, and operating expenses. Investigate, research, and resolve monthly and annual inventory variances. Prepare and deliver financial reporting packages for executive leadership and banking partners. Accounting Operations, Budgeting & Compliance Oversee A/P, A/R, inventory accounting, general accounting, and related financial operations. Reconcile and report monthly A/R; manage and process royalties, sales commissions, and vendor chargebacks. Lead the annual budgeting process, maintain monthly budgets, and perform budget-to-actual variance reviews. Design, implement, and maintain internal controls, compliance policies, and local, state, and federal tax compliance. Team Leadership & Process Modernization Set standards for department work quality, accuracy, and efficiency while promoting a service-oriented approach. Mentor and develop the Assistant Controller and accounting team. Evaluate and modernize accounting systems, workflows, and ERP capabilities to automate processes and improve efficiency.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

10+ years of progressive financial and accounting leadership experience , combining strategic oversight with hands-on Controller-level execution. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required. Experience overseeing and developing accounting professionals, including Assistant Controller-level staff. Strong financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and accounting operations experience. Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with ownership, executive leadership, employees, lenders, auditors, and external advisors. Active CPA or MBA strongly preferred. Asset-based lending experience a plus. Prior experience in a family-owned or privately held business strongly preferred.
