Assistant Controller Manufacturing

Job DescriptionJob Description Match Staffing is actively hiring an experienced Assistant Controller for a leading manufacturing company in the Spartanburg area. This role supports the Controller in managing financial operations, strengthening internal controls, and driving accuracy in all plant-level accounting functions. A manufacturing background is required. Key Responsibilities Financial Reporting

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP. Cost Accounting
• Manage standard costing, BOM reviews, variance analysis, and manufacturing cost allocations. Budgeting & Forecasting
• Assist with annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and financial modeling. General Ledger Oversight
• Maintain GL integrity, reconcile accounts, and support month-end close. Inventory Accounting
• Oversee cycle counts, inventory valuation, and scrap reporting. Internal Controls
• Strengthen financial controls, ensure compliance, and support audits. Process Improvement
• Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance reporting accuracy. Team Collaboration
• Partner with operations, supply chain, and leadership to support plant performance.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree Accounting, Finance, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of accounting experience in a manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of standard costing , inventory accounting , and manufacturing KPIs . Proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar). Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical ability. Knowledge of GAAP and internal control frameworks. Preferred Qualifications CPA, CMA, or progress toward certification. Experience supporting multi-site manufacturing operations. Background in lean manufacturing or continuous improvement environments. Soft Skills Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities. Excellent communication skills across departments. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
