Type:
full-time Our client is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to join their accounting team and play a key role in supporting the Vice President & Controller. This position will help oversee the accounting function and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting across a multi-entity, multi-division environment . This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who combines strong technical accounting expertise with leadership skills and a continuous-improvement mindset. The Assistant Controller will be highly involved in the monthly close, financial reporting, account reconciliations, job cost accounting, internal controls, financial analysis, and supporting accounting staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules. Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness. Assist with monthly financial reporting packages Maintain and strengthen accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls. Support external and internal audits, as well as tax-related requests. Help ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Evaluate accounting processes and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and controls. Partner with the Controller in managing the accounting department. Provide guidance, training, and support to staff accountants and other accounting personnel. Assist with workload prioritization and departmental initiatives.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. CPA designation preferred. 5-8+ years of progressive accounting experience. Experience in construction, real estate development, or homebuilding strongly preferred. Experience working in a multi-entity or multi-division accounting environment preferred. Prior supervisory or accounting team leadership experience preferred. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting . Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with ERP and accounting systems. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. High degree of integrity, discretion, and confidentiality. Why This Opportunity?
