Full Job Description Job Purpose:
The Controller at The Hotel Chalet is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of the hotel, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations. This role involves managing budgets, forecasting financial performance, and providing strategic insights to support the hotel's overall financial health and growth.Key Responsibilities:
Develop and manage the hotel's financial plans, budgets, and forecasts to ensure alignment with business objectives. Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Monitor and control hotel expenditures to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints. Conduct regular audits and reviews of financial processes to maintain integrity and compliance with regulations. Collaborate with department heads to provide financial insights and support for operational decision-making. Implement and maintain financial controls and procedures to safeguard the hotel's assets. Lead and mentor the team, promoting professional development and ensuring high performance. Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and address any financial inquiries. Prepare detailed financial reports for senior management, offering strategic recommendations based on financial analysis. Stay updated on industry trends and financial regulations to ensure the hotel's financial practices remain current and effective.Required Education:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. CPA certification is preferred but not mandatory.Required Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity. Proven experience in the hospitality industry, particularly in hotel financial management. Experience with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting within a hotel setting.Required Skills and Abilities:
Strong understanding of hotel operations and financial practices. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure. Strong leadership and team management skills. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to develop and implement financial strategies to improve profitability.
