Controller Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Assistant Controller to support the Controller in managing the company's accounting, financial reporting, payroll, and compliance functions. This position plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, improving processes, and ensuring timely completion of month-end and year-end responsibilities. The ideal candidate is analytical, proactive, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where they will interact with multiple departments and help drive operational efficiency. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Accounting & Financial Management Assist with month-end and year-end close processes. Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports. Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial data. Analyze financial data and identify trends or discrepancies. Support annual audits and tax preparation. Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies. Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Oversee AP and AR processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Review vendor payments and customer invoicing. Assist with collections and cash application as needed. Monitor aging reports and resolve outstanding issues. Payroll & Human Resources Support Assist with payroll processing and payroll reconciliations. Ensure payroll tax compliance. Support employee onboarding and offboarding processes. Assist with benefits administration and compliance reporting. Compliance & Internal Controls Help develop and maintain internal controls. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain accounting policies and procedures. Assist with sales tax, payroll tax, and other regulatory filings. Systems & Process Improvement Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes. Assist with ERP and accounting software implementation and optimization. Develop and maintain documentation for accounting procedures. Create reports and dashboards to improve financial visibility. Leadership Support and mentor accounting staff. Assist with training and development of team members. Serve as backup for the Controller when needed. Collaborate with department managers to improve financial operations. Qualifications Required 5+ years of progressive accounting experience. Strong understanding of GAAP. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with accounting software. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines. Preferred Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, or 6+ years' experience . Experience in manufacturing, construction, or industrial services. Experience with payroll processing. Experience with multi-state sales tax and payroll tax. Experience with ERP implementations or system conversions. Supervisory or leadership experience.
