Job Description:
Odyssey Information Services is seeking a Controller for a growing organization in Fort Worth. This is a hands-on accounting leadership role responsible for the organization's day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, controls and compliance. The Controller will lead a small accounting team while remaining actively involved in the work. This is an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Controller or newer Controller ready to take ownership of the accounting function and continue growing in the role. Responsibilities Oversee monthly financial reporting, general ledger and financial close activities Manage budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis Maintain accounting policies, procedures and internal controls Oversee AP, AR, bank reconciliations, payroll, fixed assets and inventory-related accounting Support pricing, capital investment and other business decisions with financial analysis Coordinate with external auditors and support the annual audit process Ensure compliance with applicable government and regulatory requirements Manage and develop a small team of approximately three direct reports Learn the responsibilities of the accounting team and provide hands-on support when needed Support and maintain the organization's ERP and financial systems Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field Strong accounting foundation with progressive responsibility Previous experience as an Assistant Controller, Controller, Accounting Manager or similar accounting leadership role Hands-on knowledge of financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting and accounting controls Previous supervisory or team leadership experience NetSuite experience preferred, but not required, as training will be provided Strong Excel and financial systems experience CPA or CMA is a plus, but not required Professional, collaborative and comfortable working in a hands-on environment What They're Looking For This role is best suited for someone who wants to own the accounting function without getting too far removed from the actual work . The successful candidate will be dependable, approachable and willing to learn the responsibilities of their team while continuing to develop as a Controller. The organization is open to someone earlier in their Controller career who has a strong accounting foundation and is ready for increased responsibility.
