Director of Finance & Controller Frankston Packaging - 2.5 Tyler, TX Job Details Full-time 18 hours ago Qualifications Data-driven problem-solving Full Job Description Position Summary The Director of Finance is responsible for leading the company's accounting and finance operations, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, managing cash flow, supporting operational decision-making, and developing a high-performing finance team. This role serves as the senior financial leader reporting directly to the CEO and works closely with operations, sales, purchasing, and executive leadership to improve profitability and financial performance. Primary Responsibilities Lead the Accounting and Finance Department and develop, mentor, and manage the accounting staff. Establish accountability, deadlines, and performance expectations while building a culture of ownership and continuous improvement. Prepare timely, accurate monthly financial statements and explain budget-to-actual variances. Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting records and present financial results to executive leadership. Manage daily cash positioning, weekly cash flow forecasts, liquidity, payment priorities, and working capital. Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts, EBITDA forecasting, and financial modeling. Oversee cost accounting, inventory valuation, standard costing, manufacturing variances, and product/customer profitability analysis. Partner with Operations to improve labor efficiency, inventory turns, scrap reduction, purchasing savings, and gross margins. Maintain strong internal controls, financial policies, audit readiness, and tax support. Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, collections, vendor management, customer credit, and aging. Prepare lender reporting, maintain banking relationships, monitor covenant compliance, and support financing activities. Provide financial analysis for pricing, capital expenditures, acquisitions, profitability, and strategic decision-making. Leadership Expectations Lead by example and hold team members accountable. Develop and coach employees while improving departmental efficiency. Communicate effectively across all departments. Drive continuous improvement and data-driven decision making. Consistently meet deadlines and build strong cross-functional relationships. Key Performance Indicators Month-end close completed within 7 business days. Financial statements issued by Day 8. Weekly cash forecast accuracy within 5%. Improve operating cash flow and reduce borrowing needs. Reduce DSO and improve collections. Optimize vendor payment strategies while preserving supplier relationships. Improve inventory accuracy and inventory turns. Support achievement of monthly EBITDA targets. Cross-train finance staff and improve departmental performance. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred but not required. 7-10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience. 3-5 years of leadership experience managing accounting teams. Manufacturing and cost accounting experience strongly preferred. ERP experience and advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis. Ideal Candidate Traits Hands-on leader with a willingness to dive into operational details.
