Job Description

The Assistant Controller at King Ranch Ag & Turf, a multi-location John Deere dealership, oversees day-to-day accounting operations for the Business Unit. Reporting to the Controller, this role directs monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures, financial reporting and analysis, and monthly forecasting and annual budgeting. The Assistant Controller also leads the team handling accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, and the general ledger, serving as a hands-on leader with direct visibility to senior leadership What to Expect in the
Role:
Lead the monthly and annual close process Manage and develop the accounting team covering AR, AP, fixed assets, and general ledger Review accounting team's work for accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP and company policy Prepare monthly financial reports, variance analysis, KPIs, and the annual budget Oversee periodic inventory and asset counts across locations Coordinate internal and external audits Manage the commission payout process with payroll Build and enforce policies and procedures for the King Ranch Ag & Turf segment Drive and support process improvements across systems, accounting and operations Bridge the gap between accounting and operations by helping operational leaders understand their financials
What We Will Be Needing From You:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business administration CPA or CMA preferred; Big 4 background a bonus 5-10 years of progressive accounting experience Experience managing an accounting team Experience with large ERP and reporting tools preferred Advanced Excel skills, with Microsoft Power Platform experience a plus (PowerBI, Power Automate, Power Apps) Strong communicator who can communicate easily with every level of the organization Detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable juggling competing priorities Willingness to travel to segment locations (
