Responsibilities:

The Controller serves as a key member of the senior leadership team and partners closely with the corporate office to oversee and guide all accounting and financial operations. This role is responsible for financial reporting, capital management, cost allocation, and overall financial processes. The position requires a collaborative and entrepreneurial mindset that supports the company's continued growth and success. Additionally, this role works cross-functionally with other departments to support strategic planning and execution. This position leads all financial and accounting functions at the plant level, including general accounting, tax, accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, production costing, and month-end close processes. Oversee all plant-level accounting and finance operations, including the development and maintenance of scalable accounting systems, policies, and internal controls to ensure accuracy and reduce risk. Prepare and deliver cash flow analyses, financial statements, and forecasts on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Coordinate and produce internal and external financial reporting, including audit-related activities. Review and validate journal entries, inventory transactions, accounts payable, payroll, and account reconciliations for accuracy. Ensure compliance with customer contracts and Master Service Agreements (MSAs) related to billing and receivables; collaborate with leadership on contract negotiations when needed. Strengthen vendor and subcontractor relationships to optimize cost and operational efficiency. Ensure all accounting practices and financial reporting adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Partner with leadership to develop annual operating budgets across departments. Oversee capital expenditures by project, ensuring accurate and timely recording. Analyze financial performance, identify variances, and determine root causes. Lead team management activities including hiring, training, workload planning, performance management, coaching, and employee development. Establish and track departmental goals and performance metrics. Act as a proactive problem-solver with strong project management capabilities and a results-driven mindset. Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting required CPA certification strongly preferred Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting and reporting experience, including at least 5 years in a Controller role Prior experience in manufacturing or chemical environments strongly preferred; experience in Forest Products is a plus Strong expertise in general accounting and cost accounting Excellent interpersonal, communication, team-building, and presentation skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills Ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all organizational levels, both internally and externally Capable of working both independently and collaboratively within a team environment Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and time management skills, and a demonstrated sense of urgency Ability to manage confidential information with discretion and sound judgment Proven leadership skills with the ability to navigate organizational challenges and implement process improvements Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Flexibility to work outside of standard hours as needed to meet business objectives
