More Than Just the Ledger We are looking for someone with solid accounting understanding and skills, but who is also in all operational aspects of the business. We need a high-motor Assistant Controller who wants to be on the path to becoming our future Controller. You will be the backbone of our back-office operations. The Financial Foundation (Accounting & GAAP) Manage the full-cycle month-end close process, ensuring all financial statements are accurate and GAAP-compliant. Own accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP), with a focus on streamlining and improving those functions. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for leadership and board members. Lead the transition from "startup scrappiness" to "audit-ready" processes. 2. The "Hat Collector" (Operations, HR, & Legal)
Human Resources:
Manage payroll processing, benefits administration, and the onboarding/offboarding process for new hires.
Legal & Contracts:
Act as the first line of review for SaaS agreements and vendor contracts; manage our cap table and state registrations.
Operations:
Identify bottlenecks in our internal tools and implement systems that help us scale efficiently. Help with data security compliance related to SOC 2 and ISO. 3. Strategic Growth Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis to help the leadership team make data-driven decisions. Understand and prepare the important SaaS metrics for the business. Support the CEO and CFO in fundraising efforts or audit preparation as needed.
Who You Are GAAP Guru:
You have a deep understanding of accounting principles, but you explain them in plain English.
Early-Stage Veteran:
You've worked in a startup or a small, fast-paced environment. You aren't waiting for a manual; you're writing it. The "Up-and-Comer": You have experience and are looking for a role that will explicitly prepare you to be a Controller/CFO.
Meticulously Organized:
You find peace in a reconciled account and a well-organized digital filing system.
Tech-Savvy:
You have used QuickBooks Online, Excel, Google Workspace, HubSpot and modern SaaS stacks (e.g., RAMP, TriNet). Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred, but not required for the right experience). Experience in the EdTech or SaaS industry is a significant plus.
