Job Description
Position Summary Experience Automotive Dealership Controller Job Description:
Looking for a full-time Controller for a GM and CDJR dealership withing one-hours' drive from Norfolk, VA. The Controller will maintain a system of accounting records and a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to ensure the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, mitigate risk, and maximize profit. In addition, the Controller will supervise the daily accounting operations to ensure efficient cash management, a smooth flow of all transactions, clean accounting records, and recording of all transactions in compliance with the company's accounting processes, internal controls, and US GAAP.Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management- Oversee dealership's daily accounting operations, including cash flow, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger maintenance. Financial Reporting
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with GAAP. Budgeting & Forecasting
- Prepare annual budgets and financial forecasts, providing insights and analysis to support decision-making. Tax Compliance
- Manage all tax-related matters, ensuring timely filing and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Team Leadership and Process Improvement
- Supervise and mentor the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development and identify areas for process improvement through effective accounting procedures and policies. Departmental Collaboration
- Work closely with Department Managers (Sales, Service, Parts) to review financial performance, analyze expenses, and identify opportunities for increased efficiency.
Qualifications:
Experience- Minimum of 5 years previous experience in an automotive Controller role or comparable accounting position, with at least 3 years as a supervisor. Education
- College degree preferred. Technical Skills
- Preferred proficiency in Dealer Track accounting software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools. Analytical Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; attention to detail is essential. Communication Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members and management.
