09/22/2026 4:21 PM The County of Augusta, Virginia, is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to lead the County's financial operations. This is a key leadership position with responsibility for the County's accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, debt and risk management, and other core financial functions. The Director will work closely with County leadership, elected officials, employees, regional partners, and members of the public to ensure sound financial management and exceptional service. Key Responsibilities The Director of Finance will: Lead the County's accounting and financial reporting functions, including ACFR preparation, compliance, and grant administration. Develop, coordinate, and implement the County's annual operating budget. Oversee emergency transport revenue recovery, including billing, analysis, and related financial activities. Manage the County's procurement, debt management, and risk management functions. Support capital improvement and economic development planning. Oversee accounting and financial activities for which the County serves as fiscal agent for regional entities. Direct and support staff responsible for accounts payable, accounting, and purchasing. Build and maintain effective working relationships with County staff, elected officials, regional partners, and the community. Perform other financial and administrative duties as needed to support the County's operations and strategic goals. Qualifications Candidates should have:

A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. A minimum of five years of professional experience in government finance, preferred. Strong knowledge of governmental accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and related public-sector financial practices. Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and analytical skills. The ability to develop effective working relationships with elected officials, employees, regional partners, and the public.

Compensation & Benefits Salary Range:
