  • Part-time About Bellevue Schools Foundation The Bellevue Schools Foundation (BSF) partners with the community to strengthen public education and expand opportunity for every student in Bellevue's public schools.
Working in close collaboration with district leaders, educators, and community partners, the Foundation invests philanthropic resources in programs that support student learning, well-being, and innovative classroom experiences across the Bellevue School District. About the Team Bellevue Schools Foundation operates with a small, dedicated staff team that works closely with volunteers, community partners, and district leaders. Position Overview The Non-Profit Controller leads the financial management and accounting functions for Bellevue Schools Foundation, ensuring strong financial stewardship, accurate reporting, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls. This role manages day-to-day financial operations, prepares financial reports and analysis, and supports organizational budgeting and financial planning. The Non-Profit Controller partners closely with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer to provide clear financial information that supports strong decision-making and effective governance. This position serves as the organization's primary financial lead and does not supervise staff. Key Responsibilities Financial Operations Manage accounts payable/receivable and payroll processes; maintain the general ledger and accounting records Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations; monitor cash flow and maintain appropriate financial records Partner with development staff to ensure accurate gift recording and reconciliation Financial Reporting and Analysis Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board of Trustees Monitor budget performance; provide financial projections and analysis as requested Support development of the annual operating budget in partnership with the Executive Director and Board Treasurer Board and Committee Support Prepare finance materials for Finance Committee and Board meetings Attend Finance Committee meetings and support Treasurer reporting Provide financial insights to support organizational decision-making Compliance and Annual Financial Duties Coordinate the annual audit or financial review; support preparation of IRS Form 990 and state nonprofit filings Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and internal controls Maintain documentation for grants and restricted funds Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is a finance professional who combines strong accounting skills with the ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-financial audiences. This person enjoys working in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and takes pride in maintaining strong financial systems that support organizational integrity and impact. Successful candidates often bring experience managing nonprofit financial operations, preparing financial reports for leadership and boards, and working independently while partnering closely with the team. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related experience Five or more years of accounting or financial management experience, preferably in nonprofit organizations Knowledge of nonprofit financial reporting and compliance requirements Experience preparing financial statements and supporting board-level financial reporting Experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online or similar platforms Strong attention to detail and analytical skills CPA or CPA-track candidates preferred A strong commitment to the mission of public education and interest in supporting equitable learning opportunities for students is highly valued.
