About the Opportunity Our client is seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to lead enterprise-wide financial planning, forecasting, management reporting, and business performance analysis. Reporting directly to the CFO, this individual will play a key role in translating business strategy into actionable financial insights, supporting executive decision-making, and driving financial performance across the organization. This is an individual contributor leadership role at launch, ideal for an experienced finance professional who can build scalable FP&A processes, develop sophisticated financial models, and influence cross-functional stakeholders in a fast-paced, private-equity-backed SaaS and technology environment. The Director will oversee budgeting, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, revenue and profitability analytics, cash-flow forecasting, and strategic financial modeling while partnering closely with leaders across Sales, Professional Services, Product, Engineering, HR, IT, Legal, Procurement, and Accounting. Key Responsibilities Financial Planning, Budgeting & Forecasting Lead the annual operating plan, rolling forecasts, long-range financial planning, and scenario analyses across revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, headcount, capital expenditures, working capital, and cash flow. Develop driver-based financial models connecting bookings, backlog, annual recurring revenue (ARR), subscription revenue, professional services, staffing, compensation, and operating expenses. Establish planning calendars, financial assumptions, reporting templates, and accountability standards across departments. Partner with the CFO and executive leadership to translate strategic priorities into measurable financial targets, resource allocation plans, and operating goals. Identify financial risks, opportunities, sensitivities, and potential management actions through scenario modeling. Management Reporting & Business Performance Own monthly and quarterly management reporting, including budget-to-actual and forecast-to-actual analyses, EBITDA and cash-flow bridges, and KPI scorecards. Prepare financial reporting and analysis for executive leadership, the Board, investors, and lenders. Analyze business performance across products, customers, departments, projects, geographies, and revenue streams. Improve forecast accuracy by identifying recurring variances, evaluating assumptions, and establishing a consistent feedback loop between forecasts and actual results. Partner with Accounting to ensure management reporting reconciles to GAAP actuals and that financial metrics and adjustments are consistently defined. Revenue, SaaS Metrics & Professional Services Analytics Develop and maintain revenue models across subscription and recurring revenue, software licenses, maintenance and support, hosting, implementation, and professional services. Build analytics around ARR, bookings, backlog, renewals, churn, expansion, pipeline conversion, deferred revenue, and unbilled revenue. Partner with Sales and business leaders to evaluate pricing, discounting, deal economics, customer profitability, contract terms, and resource requirements. Analyze professional services performance, including utilization, billable capacity, realization, project margins, staffing requirements, delivery backlog, and revenue conversion. Develop ARR-to-GAAP revenue bridges and explain the timing, mix, and cash-flow implications of bookings and contract structures. Cost Management, Headcount & Strategic Business Partnership Lead headcount and compensation planning in partnership with HR and department leaders, incorporating hiring timelines, vacancies, contractors, bonuses, benefits, and other workforce costs. Provide financial guidance to cross-functional leaders across Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, Professional Services, HR, IT, Legal, and Procurement. Evaluate business cases, vendor commitments, technology investments, pricing initiatives, and make-versus-buy decisions. Develop contribution-margin, customer-profitability, product-economics, and return-on-investment analyses to support business decisions. Monitor spending against approved budgets and escalate material financial risks, forecast changes, and liquidity concerns. Cash Flow & Strategic Finance Own the integrated cash-flow forecast, partnering with Accounting to incorporate collections, vendor payments, payroll, taxes, debt service, capital expenditures, and working-capital movements. Analyze accounts receivable, deferred revenue, unbilled revenue, billing schedules, collections, and accounts payable to identify opportunities to improve cash conversion. Support debt and covenant forecasting, lender reporting, financing scenarios, acquisitions, integrations, and other strategic initiatives. Develop financial models and analytical support for market expansion, product investments, partnerships, mergers and acquisitions, and potential exit-related activities. Systems, Data & Process Improvement Lead FP&A requirements for an ERP transition, including reporting structures, financial dimensions, data validation, user acceptance testing, and post-implementation stabilization. Build an integrated planning and reporting framework across ERP, CRM, project management, payroll, HRIS, billing, and business intelligence systems. Develop scalable dashboards and standardized reporting using Power BI or comparable analytics tools. Reduce manual spreadsheet dependency by implementing repeatable data processes, governed financial models, version control, and consistent review procedures. Document FP&A processes, financial models, planning calendars, data ownership, KPI definitions, and reporting standards. Cross-Functional Leadership Establish a scalable FP&A operating model with consistent planning standards, review processes, documentation, and controls. Create regular budget-owner and leadership review cadences focused on business performance, accountability, risks, opportunities, and corrective actions. Communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and nonfinancial stakeholders. Foster a culture of accountability, data integrity, constructive challenge, and cross-functional collaboration. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field. 10+ years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, corporate finance, or a related discipline. Significant experience in SaaS, software, enterprise technology, technology-enabled services, or another recurring-revenue business with professional services operations. Demonstrated ownership of annual budgets, rolling forecasts, long-range planning, management reporting, headcount planning, cash-flow forecasting, and executive decision support. Strong understanding of ARR, bookings, backlog, gross margin, EBITDA, working capital, cash flow, and SaaS operating metrics. Advanced financial modeling and Excel skills, with strong analytical and data-management capabilities. Experience with modern ERP, planning, CRM, and business intelligence systems. Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a lean, fast-paced environment. Strong communication, business partnership, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Qualifications MBA, CPA, CFA, or equivalent advanced training. Experience working in a private-equity-backed organization, including value-creation planning, Board and lender reporting, M&A, integration, carve-outs, standalone-company setup, or exit diligence. Familiarity with enterprise planning platforms such as Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, Planful, or similar tools; IBM Planning Analytics (TM1) experience is a plus.
