DOE Position Description:
The Vice President of Advancement leads the execution of Lighthouse Mission Ministries' fundraising, donor relations, marketing, communications, events, and donor systems under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer. This position turns organizational strategy into coordinated plans, campaigns, systems, and team priorities that grow sustainable revenue, strengthen supporter relationships, and communicate the impact of LMM's mission to heal homelessness with Christ's power and love. Responsibilities:
Develop and execute fundraising plans, revenue goals, forecasts, campaigns, and performance measures. Lead annual giving, major gifts, grants, planned giving, donor engagement, events, marketing, communications, and donor systems. Provide regular dashboards, forecasts, performance reports, and recommendations to senior leadership. Lead, coach, and develop Advancement staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers. Manage an appropriate portfolio of major donors and prospects and support the CEO, COO, Board, and Foundation in key relationships. Oversee donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship, proposals, impact reports, moves management, legacy giving Lead direct mail, digital fundraising, monthly giving, donor acquisition, retention and year-end campaigns. Oversee grant prospecting, proposals, reporting, and compliance. Strengthen relationships with churches, businesses, foundations, and community supporters. Lead execution of the Annual Gala, donor events, tours, open houses, and stewardship activities. Implement approved messaging, storytelling, public relations, donor communications, and brand standards. Guide production of newsletters, annual reports, appeals, campaigns, videos, presentations, and impact materials. Collaborate with program leaders to gather stories, outcomes, and data demonstrating ministry impact. Support executive leadership with media engagement, public appearances, donor presentations, and crisis communications. Manage Advancement vendors, technology, and the approved departmental budget. Evaluate fundraising and marketing performance and recommend adjustments based on results and mission impact. Ensure the donor CRM supports accurate records, segmentation, relationship management, and reporting. Collaborate with Finance on gift processing, reconciliation, restricted funds, forecasting, and financial reporting. Maintain Advancement policies, procedures, workflows, confidentiality, and ethical fundraising standards. Represent LMM professionally with donors, churches, foundations, businesses, volunteers, community partners, and the public. Participate in prayer and Christian devotionals in group settings. Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Operating Officer.
Organizational Relationships:
Reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer. Supervises assigned Advancement staff, contractors, interns, and volunteers. Works closely with the CEO, executive leadership, Finance, program leaders, the LMM Foundation, and Board members. Represents LMM and the Advancement Department to supporters and the public.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, business, communications, marketing, ministry, or a related field and at least five years of progressively responsible Advancement or fundraising experience. Equivalent education and experience may be considered. Demonstrated success executing comprehensive fundraising strategies. Experience with major gifts, annual giving, grants, planned giving, campaigns, donor engagement, and events. Proven ability to cultivate, solicit, and steward significant donor relationships. Experience leading and developing professional staff. Strong understanding of donor databases, fundraising analytics, segmentation, campaign planning, and performance measurement. Excellent writing, editing, presentation, interpersonal communication, and public-speaking skills. Ability to turn strategic direction into clear plans, systems, priorities, and team accountability. Ability to manage multiple priorities, budgets, staff, vendors, campaigns, and deadlines. Strong judgment, discretion, professionalism, and ability to handle confidential information. Understanding of professional fundraising practices and ethics. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, CRM systems, digital fundraising platforms, and communication tools, or the ability to learn. A passion for serving Jesus and making the Gospel known through mercy ministry, with an active church and prayer life. Knowledge of issues related to homelessness, poverty, addiction, domestic violence, and recovery preferred. Ability to work independently while following organizational direction and priorities. Ability to successfully pass pre-employment drug and criminal background screenings. Agreement with Lighthouse Mission Ministries' Statement of Faith and Lifestyle Commitment. CFRE credential preferred.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions:
Ability to report regularly to the work site. Occasional local travel and evening or weekend work. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed for donations or events. Possible exposure to illness and indoor and outdoor working conditions.
