Job Description

Purpose of Position:
Under minimal supervision, assist in the operation of the Finance Department in the administration of a comprehensive financial system in order to produce an in-house annual financial report and plan. The Assistant Finance Director performs a variety of complex accounting functions assisting the Finance Director in providing a countywide vision and leadership in the county's fiscal affairs. These functions include development and implementation of the central financial information/management, payroll and human resource systems, the development of the annual county budget, single audit and state financial report with internal reviews of accounting controls and practices with direct assistance from external audit staff performing compliant audit of county records. This position is responsible for planning, supervising, organizing, directing, monitoring, and evaluating all aspects of the Pierce County fiscal operations. This includes administration of provider contracts, collections, budgeting, state/county contracts, state and federal grants, state and federal reporting, financial audits, and compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and regulations. The Assistant Finance Director exercises delegated responsibilities and authority in reference to daily operations in the absence of the County Finance Director.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Administration or related field with a minimum of 5 years' experience in public sector or government with proven supervisory/leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 3 years of related accounting experience.

$78,436.80 - $89,648.00 per year
