Job Description

Description Stafford Rosenbaum LLP is seeking a highly qualified Director of Finance to join our Madison office. The Director of Finance provides leadership, management, and vision necessary to ensure the firm meets its goals through process improvement and implementation of forward-looking strategies. This role is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of finance and accounting activities at Stafford Rosenbaum LLP. The Director of Finance will assist the Managing Partner and Board of Directors in the analysis, development, and implementation of long-range plans, strategies, goals, and objectives for the firm. This position involves not just delegating tasks, but also understanding the broader financial contexts and implications, related to the accumulation, preparation, and presentation of firm financial and administrative reports, to analyze firm financial data, including monthly analyses of income and expenses, and report results to firm leadership. Direct, review and approve preparation of monthly financial statements. Develop and document policies, procedures, and internal controls relating to all accounting functions and operations and prepare annual operating and capital budgets, track status of actual versus budget performance monthly. Partner with CPA firm to complete necessary tax documents and for advice, as needed. Requirements Well-qualified candidates will have at least ten years of finance and accounting experience, preferably in a law firm or professional services environment. A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or finance-related areas or equivalent on-the-job experience. Supervisory experience with demonstrated leadership skills. Professional client service communication, able to exercise courtesy, diplomacy, and tact. Candidates will be solid collaborators with demonstrated ability to work with attorneys, staff, clients, community, and business partners and are meticulous with strong project management skills and the ability to organize and prioritize tasks, while working independently to handle multiple deadlines under aggressive time constraints Travel to the firm's Milwaukee office is occasionally required.
