Controller - Construction Accounting About Mared Mechanical Mared Mechanical is a 100% employee-owned commercial and industrial mechanical contractor based in Menomonee Falls, WI. Our work covers HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, controls/building automation, sheet metal, and piping across both construction and service. The Role We're looking for an experienced Controller to own day-to-day finance and accounting for our construction and service businesses. You'll lead a team of three and partner with our outside accounting firm. You'll also work directly with the President, Head of Operations, and Head of Sales on financial strategy, reporting, and controls. What You'll Do Own monthly WIP schedules and percentage-of-completion reporting Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reporting, including Power BI dashboards Handle covenant compliance calculations, cash management, and line-of-credit utilization Oversee AP, AR/construction billing, service billing, and payroll Lead budgeting, job costing accuracy, and margin analysis across construction and service work Maintain internal controls and GAAP compliance Oversee the company's information systems/IT function What We're Looking For 8-12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience; construction or mechanical contracting background strongly preferred Hands-on construction accounting experience: WIP/POC, job costing, ASC 606, AIA progress billing, retainage, and change orders Experience with bank covenant management and treasury Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA a plus but not required ERP experience (Microsoft Business Central a plus) EOS (Entrepreneurial Operating System) experience a plus but not required Position Details Full-time, exempt 100% in-office in Menomonee Falls, WI; remote or hybrid work is not available
