Job Description

Duluth Trading Company is seeking an Assistant Controller to support financial operations for our growing retail brand. You will assist with month-end close, general ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial reporting. Partner with merchandising and retail teams to analyze sales, margins, and inventory, ensuring accurate and timely financial data. Help maintain internal controls, support audits, and contribute to budgeting and forecasting. This role suits a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a practical, hands-on, and collaborative environment focused on supporting our customers and stores. Responsibilities Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Prepare and review journal entries and account reconciliations Support preparation of accurate, timely financial statements and reports Maintain and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies Partner with retail and merchandising teams to analyze sales, margins, and inventory Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Support internal and external audits with documentation and schedules Help improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting tools Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting standards Collaborate across departments to provide financial insights and guidance Required Skills General ledger accounting Financial reporting Month-end close Account reconciliations GAAP knowledge Budgeting and forecasting Internal controls Retail or inventory accounting Excel and spreadsheets ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP, Net Suite)
