Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our growing construction company in Fairmont, WV. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial management, with hands-on experience using QuickBooks. Prior work in the construction industry is highly preferred, as you will be managing job costing, project financials, and the unique financial needs of a construction business. ### Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Maintain accurate financial records and prepare financial statements and reports
  • Handle QuickBooks administration, including setup, customization, and troubleshooting
  • Manage job costing, progress billing, and retainage for construction projects
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and construction-specific requirements
  • Work closely with project managers and leadership to provide timely financial insights
  • Oversee bank reconciliations, vendor management, and financial controls
  • Support audit preparation and tax filings as needed ### Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA a plus) preferred
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a Controller or similar role
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks is required
  • Experience working for a construction company is strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of construction accounting principles, including percentage-of-completion and job costing
  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel (advanced preferred)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment ### What We Offer
