Job Description

Classification Title:
Underwriter Classification Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Job Description:
Assist the Insurance Service staff by performing editing and clerical support related to the insurance systems and underwriting activities. This support shall include, but not be limited to typing memoranda, correspondence, manuscripts, reports and other documents from transcription, written drafts and/or general instructions; reading mail and drafting responses to routine correspondence; distributing mail to the appropriate persons for handling on behalf of the supervisor and maintaining a master record of mail receipt and documentation of follow through. Assist in the gathering, recording, analysis, and disbursement of data including but not limited to insurance coverage details, insurance exposure, insurance claims and loss information, peer review information, litigation and other claim activity pertinent to specific individuals and entities, and related matters. This may include performing internet research, accessing appropriate data from a variety of SIP participant universities electronic sources. Assist with the organization, maintenance, and retrieval of a wide array of highly confidential administrative files related to correspondence, official documentation of insurance policies, insurance documents, litigation records, reports, and peer review information. Incumbent must become familiar with insurance and medical-legal terminology and documents and maintain all assigned files with strict attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness in accordance with current guidelines, as filed material must be retrievable on a moment's notice. This position will also maintain the current filing guide for all office staff. Support the Insurance Service staff by performing clerical roles such as point of contact for telephone communication, calendar maintenance to include appointment scheduling, prepare and/or distribute agendas, meeting materials, and minutes. The position may also be required to make travel arrangements along with submitting travel expense logs for reimbursement. Perform other related administrative functions as requested.

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and one year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred:
