About the company Our client is an established and growing specialty insurance business with a strong focus on personal lines products. They operate in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and are committed to developing talent at every level. Due to continued growth, they are looking to add an underwriting assistant to their team to support day-to-day underwriting operations. The role This is a great opportunity for someone looking to build or progress their underwriting career within personal lines. You will work closely with senior underwriters, providing essential support across a book of business that includes homeowners and related residential property products. The role sits within a small, close-knit team where your contribution will be visible and your development actively supported. Key responsibilities Assisting underwriters with the assessment, processing and management of homeowners and personal lines risks Reviewing and processing new business submissions, renewals, endorsements and cancellations Maintaining accurate policy records and documentation in underwriting systems Liaising with brokers and agents to gather information and resolve queries Supporting risk evaluation by compiling data, running reports and flagging potential issues Ensuring compliance with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements and underwriting appetite Providing general administrative support to the underwriting team as required What we're looking for Previous experience in an insurance role, ideally within homeowners or personal lines underwriting Familiarity with underwriting processes, policy documentation and insurance terminology Strong attention to detail and a methodical, organised approach to work Good communication skills - comfortable dealing with brokers, colleagues and stakeholders at all levels Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with underwriting platforms or policy management systems is a plus A proactive attitude and willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities Progress towards or interest in pursuing relevant insurance qualifications (e.g. CII) is desirable but not essential What's on offer Competitive salary commensurate with experience Supportive team culture with genuine career development opportunities Study support for professional qualifications Flexible / hybrid working arrangements Comprehensive benefits package
