SUMMARY:
The Underwriting Assistant I performs a variety of loan processing duties to ensure loans are compliant and meet the standards and documentation required for delivery into the Bank's portfolio or appropriate secondary market investors. The Underwriting Assistant I coordinates communication between the MLO, customer and Underwriter to ensure the mortgage application process meets all expectations while preparing the application to be underwritten.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinates the timely processing of residential mortgage loan applications and ensures critical deadlines are met Orders automated income/asset verification and automated underwriting services Analyses necessary disclosures for compliance and reviews support documentation via appropriate checklists Orders mortgage services through third party vendors Obtains missing documentation and completes the preliminary loan preparation for the Underwriter's review Responds to internal and external customers or vendor inquiries, within scope of authority and expertise via telephone and electronic communication Stays current on new developments within the residential lending field and attends relevant courses and seminars
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:
(Minimum education required to perform the duties of this position) Associates degree, or equivalent experience in an administrative or business related role.•
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong time management and organizational skills Ability to work in a team environment under deadline pressure Ability to communicate in an effective and efficient manner both verbally and written Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) products is required Tech savvy with ability to learn various web based systems
