Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Alarm Service Technician with extensive experience servicing, troubleshooting, and modifying Edwards EST fire alarm systems, including EST3, EST4, and I/O panels. This role is heavily focused on diagnostics, system repair, programming corrections, and restoring complex Fire Life Safety systems to full operational status in active customer environments.

The ideal candidate is a field-driven troubleshooter who understands how EST systems operate in real-world applications and can quickly identify, diagnose, and resolve programming-related issues affecting system functionality, communications, and device operation. Duties and Responsibilites Troubleshoot and repair Edwards EST3, EST4, and I/O fire alarm systems in commercial facilities.
Diagnose programming-related issues involving:
device mapping, network communications, cause & effect logic, false alarms, missing devices, ground faults, loop failures, and intermittent troubles. Modify and update existing fire alarm programs to correct operational deficiencies and support system changes. Perform panel diagnostics, database verification, and system integrity checks. Investigate and resolve field issues involving: network nodes, fiber communications, data loops, amplifiers, smoke control interfaces, auxiliary relays and I/O functions. Perform system reprogramming after device replacements, renovations, or system expansions. Conduct operational testing to confirm system functionality after repairs and programming changes. Interface directly with customers, inspectors, and service managers to explain findings and corrective actions. Maintain accurate service documentation, programming backups, deficiency reports, and repair records. Provide technical support and guidance to service technicians in the field. Ensure all work complies with NFPA 72, NEC, local AHJ requirements, and company safety standards. 2-5+ years of hands-on experience servicing and programming Edwards EST fire alarm systems. High school diploma (or equivalent) Valid California Driver License (or ability to obtain one) and proof of auto insurance. Physical Demands & Work Environment Ability to Drive for 2+ hours in a work shift/day, daily Ability to drive, walk, bend, stoop, hear, and speak, daily Ability to work in indoor and outdoor environments, under all temperature variations Ascend/Descend and work at heights above 6ft and extreme heights, occasionally Move/Transport items weighing 20 pounds, occasionally Position self to work in confined spaces, occasionally Pushing/Pulling using upper extremities, daily Stand or Sit for long periods (4+ hours), daily Work environment may be construction sites, commercial buildings, high rise/mid-rise buildings, etc. At TRL Systems, we've been keeping people and their property safe for over 42 years.
