The position is responsible for ensuring code compliance for public safety through the inspection of new and existing structures, and to work as a code enforcement office pertaining to land use, building conditions, nuisances, signage, landscaping, sanitation, license, and related environmental issues. Employees in this classification receive and investigate complaints regarding code violations in the area of assignment and prepare cases for hearing by the Special Magistrate. Responsibilities include providing information, conducting field inspections, issuing violation notices, and monitoring to ensure compliance. Work is performed and reviewed for conformance with laws, regulations, codes, ordinances, and established policies and procedures. Employee must exercise independent judgment to ensure that established codes and ordinances have been followed in a variety of situations. Employee also may perform skilled inspection work in order to secure compliance with established codes and ordinances. Work may also involve responding to manmade or natural disasters to assist in recovery efforts, as required. This position will report to the Fire Chief, but shall collaborate as needed with the Building Official.

Pay:

$24.08 - $31.85 per hour
