Job Description
MIG Welder / Fabricator This role focuses on fabricating and repairing concrete forms and related steel components in an indoor welding shop environment. You will spend most of your time refurbishing existing products using MIG welding, cutting, and fabrication tools while working from blueprints and precise measurements. Responsibilities Fabricate and repair concrete forms such as shores and posts used in construction projects. Refurbish existing concrete form products, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards. Perform MIG welding on galvanized steel, including flat, horizontal, and vertical down positions. Read and interpret blueprints to determine material requirements, dimensions, and fabrication details. Use a tape measure accurately to mark and cut steel to specified lengths and tolerances. Carry out fabrication tasks including grinding, torch cutting, and plasma cutting to shape and prepare materials. Operate hand tools and power tools such as hammers, chisels, grinders, and cutting equipment safely and efficiently. Lift and move materials and components weighing up to 50 lbs as part of daily tasks. Work collaboratively with a small welding team and follow guidance from an experienced certified welding inspector. Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures and shop rules. Demonstrate consistent attendance and punctuality by arriving on time and ready to work each day. Essential Skills MIG welding experience with at least 6+ months of hands-on work. Ability to perform MIG welding in flat, horizontal, and vertical down positions. Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints for fabrication and welding work. Ability to use a tape measure accurately for cutting and fitting steel components. Experience with basic fabrication processes including grinding, torching, and plasma cutting. Work Environment Work takes place 100% indoors in a welding shop alongside an experienced certified welding inspector and a small team of approximately three employees. The role involves regular use of MIG welders, grinders, torches, plasma cutters, hammers, chisels, and other fabrication tools. The surrounding yard is open, with heavy equipment used to move large pieces of framework. Standard hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with earlier start times at 5:00 AM for overtime and on hotter days. The environment is physically active and industrial, requiring steel-toed boots, a welding hood, and welding gloves as part of the dress code. Attendance and punctuality are critical, with the expectation that employees arrive a few minutes early and are ready to work every day. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
