Orange Approved Supervisor Breil Bonaguro Supervisor bbonagurochapman Scheduling Please use dates within Chapman Academic Calendar (chapman/academics/academic-calendar.aspx ) Desired Start Date 05/25/2026 Projected End Date 05/21/2027 Average number of hours per week Up to 10 Hrs Position Summary Information Job Description Summary To create thriving communities among first-year students, the First Year Experience Peer Advisor (FYE Peer Advisor or FYEPA) position will focus on the needs of first year-students as they navigate their experience during the implementation of Fall Orientation and throughout the academic year. This position will work closely with the Lead First Year Experience Peer Advisor(s), Graduate Assistant, and Assistant Director for First Year Experience in Residence Life & First Year Experience. Throughout the 2026-2027 academic year, FYE Peer Advisors will develop workshops and programs that support the goals driven by the First Year Experience. FYE Peer Advisors will host drop in hours each week to engage with First Year students. One of the key focuses of the FYE Peer Advisors will be to aid in the support of students transitions into university life with a focus on connection and belonging in their first semester. Responsibilities Plan and implement programming for first year students to aid in their transition to Chapman Host weekly drop in hours within the community (residential and main campus) Be a resource within your college for First Year students Work collaboratively with fellow FYE Peer Advisors to plan workshops and events based on First Year academic and social milestones Connect with college representatives to collect what common challenges first year's face within their major/college Create advertisement for spreading awareness of role and workshops approved by the Assistant Director Host one meeting with Orientation Leaders within your college to discuss trends and questions of first year students Host one program a month with coworkers that addresses the needs of First Year students Small team meeting weekly with Assistant Director and other FYE Peer Advisors Facilitate specific outreach to students within college, region, or area of interest Attend trainings with the Orientation Team during the first week of classes Support the First Year Experience Team in planning and facilitating: First-Year Community Programming Commuter Student Specific Programming Publicize key college/school/department-based initiatives to the students of corresponding colleges Facilitating specific outreach and meetings with commuter students and students of concern Required Qualifications Will have served as an Orientation Leader for Fall 2026 Be a full-time student with at least a sophomore student status Maintain a minimum semester and cumulative grade point average of 2.5 Be under no administrative, academic, behavioral, or conduct sanctions Desired Qualifications Exhibit a prompt and dependable work ethic Collaborate and work effectively within a team dynamic Display a passion and motivation for fostering student success Plan and implement academic/social programs Special Instructions to Applicants Budget Information Is Federal work-study required?
