Job Description
The Fitness Specialist manages operations of the fitness center located at a senior high-rise and coordinates with group fitness instructors and other staff. The Fitness Specialist is responsible for: monitoring the floor, providing one-on-one appointments (personal training ) , providing population-specific health classes, and presenting educational materials in a public speaking setting. Other detailed duties are listed below: Provide education sessions to residents and staff on benefits of program services. Actively market and promote program services to potential participants in order to increase program enrollment. (Designing promotional materials, slides, flyers, and posters) Complete enrollment and medical screening process for each participant. Coordinate and administer individual exercise program consultations for members based on current
ACSM/AHA
guidelines. Personal training certification preferred (or willing to be certified) Provide appropriate instruction and orientation to members on proper use of center equipment. Track and report fitness center usage (independent exercisers, supervised exercisers, fitness class exercisers, and Walker's Club) Provide group exercise class instruction and specialty programs as appropriate for site initiatives. Keep track and replenish materials such as gym wipes, sanitizer, paper towels, sign-in sheets and any other paperwork. Light cleaning duties of fitness and exercise room. Constantly stay up-to-date with latest research, educational materials, etc. and provide copies of various health topics to residents. Overall, the Fitness Specialist is responsible for making the well-being of residents a top priority. Create a holistic approach by collaborating with the Pastor (spiritual, emotional wellness) and the Service Coordinator (Emotional, Social wellness) to establish a calendar of activities to target all dimensions of wellness for the residents. Target intellectual and emotional dimensions of wellness, in addition to physical, by providing educational speakers, streaming programs, events, van trips, and materials (such as brain teasers and puzzles) to residents. Learn and properly execute use of the in-house live-streaming system in the community room and exercise room. Know how to use the main broadcasting system in the electrical room (Live-stream, DVD, Roku) in order to create a calendar of programs for the residents to tune-in. Create content for the newsletter (co-coordinator for newsletter) Knowledge of the Canva program for designing visually appealing and informative content, including event calendars, marketing materials and promotional graphics tailored toward a senior audience. Update Message Board monthly and as needed with schedule changes and important announcements. Knowledge of Microsoft Office program -CPR certified- Preferred, but will send to training Previous experienceREQUIRED. 5
