Job Description

Landscaping Lead Location:
Miami, Fort Lauderdale (on-site, with clients) Reports to:
Head of Landscaping Team:
Landscaping Operations, Leadership Type:
Full-time Salary Range:
$52k to $55k, plus equity and performance based earnings About Veridian From day one, Veridian was built on one belief: communities deserve better. We replace silos and finger-pointing with one accountable partner across management, vendors, and tech. We favor clarity over complexity, own outcomes end-to-end, and put community first—every time. The Role We need a Lead of Landscaping to help us continue build from the ground up. If you've ever thought, "I could run this business better if it were mine," this role was made for you. You're a builder-operator who treats this arm like it's yours.

We need you to build and run our landscaping vertical from the ground up. You will set up the operation, staff it, equip it, and manage it day-to-day.
The job is field-first:
most days you'll be on sites with crews, vendors, and clients. You will make practical decisions on scope, schedules, equipment, quality, safety, and cost, and you will be accountable for service continuity, revenue, and margins.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Build from the ground up: own the 0→1 setup and day-to-day run of the landscaping operation—design the model, staff it, equip it, and keep it on time and on margin. Stand up service lines and standards (mow/edge/blow, bed care, pruning/arbor, mulch/sod, seasonal color, irrigation, fertilization/weed & pest control, storm response). Absorb existing contracts without missed visits; conduct site walks; confirm scopes and acceptance criteria. Alongside the Head of Landscaping, you will hire, schedule, and lead foremen and crews; run daily huddles and weekly route reviews; coach performance. Build route maps and calendars; increase route density; reduce windshield time; set weather contingency plans. Specify, procure, and track equipment/fleet (mowers, handhelds, trailers, spares); implement preventive maintenance and parts inventory; maximize uptime.
Own irrigation basics:
zone mapping, runtime plans, leak/break triage, seasonal adjustments, and compliance with watering ordinances.
Implement QA and safety:
checklists, before/after photo proof, site audits, PPE, tailgate talks, incident reporting, equipment lockout.
Manage materials and vendors:
mulch/soil/plant sourcing, nursery relationships, delivery SLAs, disposal logistics, and price negotiations.
Protect scope and margin:
job costing, labor and materials tracking, change orders, and rework reduction. Handle escalations and client communications; propose enhancements and renewals with clear takeoffs and pricing.
Maintain clean records:
inventory, equipment hours, service logs, safety incidents, and site-specific notes. Report weekly on revenue, labor %, on-time and first-time completion, rework rate, safety, equipment uptime, and top risks—with corrective actions. Train and certify crews as needed (equipment use, safety, horticultural practices); enforce standards consistently. Write and maintain simple SOPs for mobilization, site walks, QA, PM schedules, incident reporting, irrigation checks, and closeout. Coordinate with internal stakeholders (scheduling, finance, procurement) to align capacity, costs, and invoicing. Ensure compliance with local regulations (fertilizer/pesticide handling, watering restrictions, disposal rules) and company policies. You'll Be Great Here If You… You've done this before - you're an ex-landscaping business owner; or you've scaled a landscaping business from 0→1 Default to ownership—no "not my job"; you set standards and hold the line. Lead from the field—present on routes, shoulder-to-shoulder with crews and clients. Think in systems—turn site realities into simple, repeatable playbooks. Manage by the numbers—labor %, on-time/first-time, rework, uptime, margin. Communicate with calm clarity—clean briefs, clear decisions, tight follow-through. Care about people, safety, and place—professional crews, safe sites, proud properties. Must-Haves 5-7+ years in landscaping or adjacent field services with direct crew leadership and route operations.
Proven build/scale experience:
service lines, standards, scheduling, and vendor setup. Command of job costing, labor/material controls, change orders, and scope management.
Equipment/fleet proficiency:
spec, PM schedules, parts/inventory, uptime tracking.
Irrigation fundamentals:
zone mapping, runtimes/seasonal adjusts, break triage, ordinance awareness. QA & safety discipline: checklists, photo proof, audits, PPE, incident reporting.
Data comfort:
spreadsheets and simple reporting; can narrate the "so what." Strong written/verbal communication; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Valid driver's license; ability to work outdoors and be on sites daily. Nice-to-Haves Portfolio experience across HOA/COA and commercial properties. Relevant credentials (e.g., FL pesticide applicator), irrigation/arbor certifications, trailer endorsement/CDL. Nursery/procurement relationships; estimating/takeoffs; vendor negotiation. Continuous improvement mindset Pay & Perks 100% employer-paid medical, dental, and vision (employee coverage) Unlimited PTO with a strong minimum encouraged; 40 hours sick-time 15 paid holidays + seasonal office closure Hybrid work (Miami/Fort Lauderdale; field-first, on-site as needed) Tech and vehicle allowance for work-related hardware and travel Equity participation Growth culture: work alongside deeply experienced operators who care about doing great work and learning fast
