Highway, Street, and Bridge Construction About the Role The Fleet Equipment Manager is responsible for ensuring the overall performance, reliability, and lifecycle management of a diverse fleet, including trucks, trailers, and heavy construction equipment. This role oversees maintenance operations, preventative maintenance programs, equipment procurement support, and compliance with all safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Lead fleet maintenance operations to ensure maximum reliability, safety, and minimal downtime Develop and optimize preventative maintenance programs, tracking performance, utilization, and lifecycle data Oversee fleet asset management, including procurement support, deployment, warranty tracking, and lifecycle planning Manage and mentor maintenance personnel while ensuring adherence to safety standards and operational procedures Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, EPA, and company safety regulations, maintaining accurate records and reports Collaborate with operations teams to ensure equipment availability and support job site requirements Monitor budgets, vendor performance, and maintenance costs to identify efficiency improvements and cost-saving opportunities Qualifications Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor's degree in Fleet Management, Automotive Technology, Business, or a related field preferred 5+ years of progressive experience in fleet maintenance or heavy equipment management Experience managing mixed fleets (trucks, trailers, and construction/utility equipment) preferred Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of vehicle and heavy equipment systems (engines, powertrain, hydraulics, emissions, and electronics) Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and fleet lifecycle management Familiarity with fleet maintenance or asset management software Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team management skills Excellent organizational and project management abilities Ability to interpret technical manuals and safety regulations Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
