Fleet Mechanic

A fleet mechanic diagnoses, repairs, and performs preventative maintenance on a company's vehicles—such as trucks, cars, and specialized equipment—to ensure safety and operational efficiency. Key duties include engine diagnostics, brake repairs, tire services, and meticulous record-keeping, often working on varied diesel and gasoline engines to minimize downtime.

Preventative Maintenance:

Performing oil changes, lubrication, brake checks, and tire rotations to keep vehicles running safely.

Diagnostics & Repair:

Using diagnostic equipment to identify issues and repairing engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and hydraulic components.

Record Keeping:

Maintaining detailed, up-to-date logs of maintenance history, mileage, and repairs for quality assurance and compliance.

Safety Compliance:

Ensuring all vehicles meet Department of Transportation (DOT) standards and safety regulations.

Field Service:

Traveling to remote locations to repair broken-down vehicles

Experience:

Previous experience as a mechanic, with heavy-duty diesel experience often required for commercial fleets.

Certifications:

ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certifications are highly valued.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with diagnostic software and tools, ability to read, interpret manuals and schematics.

Physical Strength:

Ability to lift up to 50-150 pounds and perform, strenuous tasks like crouching or kneeling
