Job Description

A Tree Foreman (or Crew Foreman) leads, supervises, and coordinates a team of arborists and ground workers, ensuring safe and efficient tree care, pruning, and removal operations. They are responsible for training staff, adhering to safety protocols, managing equipment, and communicating with clients.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Safety:
Supervise, train, and mentor crew members (climbers, grounds personnel) while enforcing OSHA and company safety standards.
Operational Management:
Direct daily operations for tree pruning, trimming, and removals, often working from bucket trucks or by climbing.
Site Assessment & Planning:
Review job sites to plan safe, efficient, and professional execution of tree work.
Equipment Maintenance:
Ensure saws, chippers, trucks, and climbing gear are properly maintained and operated safely.
Client Communication:
Act as the primary point of contact on-site, discussing job details with clients.
Required Skills & Qualifications Experience:
Usually requires 3-5+ years of experience in tree care, climbing, or trimming.
Leadership:
Strong ability to delegate, lead a team, and manage conflict.
Knowledge:
Expertise in tree species, proper pruning techniques, and rigging/tree removal safety.
Certifications/Licenses:
Often requires a valid driver's license (CDL is often a plus or required). ISA Certification (International Society of Arboriculture) is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to work outdoors, does not have to climb trees but needs to be comfortable to operate a skylift, and lift heavy items.
