Job Description

Total Grounds is a thriving professional landscape company and is seeking the right candidate to join our team as the Fleet Mechanic. As a Fleet Mechanic, you will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall upkeep of Total Grounds fleet of vehicles and equipment. This position requires a skilled and experienced self motivated mechanic who can diagnose and resolve mechanical issues efficiently to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our equipment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of automotive systems, heavy equipment, small engines, excellent troubleshooting abilities, and a commitment to safety and quality workmanship.
Job Responsibilities:
Fleet Maintenance Perform routine vehicle maintenance tasks, including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid checks to keep vehicles in optimal condition. Repair and preventative maintenance of our heavy equipment including loaders, excavators, and skid steers when applicable. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime and maintain fleet productivity. Conduct thorough inspections of vehicles to identify any potential problems or safety concerns. Repair and diagnose issues with diesel and gas engine systems and equipment. Perform routine PM, repair and maintenance tasks on landscaping equipment, including lawn mowers, trimmers, blowers, tools, trailers, small engines and snow equipment to keep them in optimal condition. Monthly equipment checks on jobsites for holding crews accountable for up keep and general inspection of the machine Basic mechanic tools are required; speciality and diagnostic tools will be provided by Total Grounds Assist with snow operations as needed Organization and Communication Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs performed on all equipment. Inventory and source critical parts and supplies to ensure adequate stock levels in the shop for equipment. Maintain and organize shop facilities.

The shop is yours you keep it clean and organized Collaborate with other team members and departments to coordinate vehicle maintenance schedules and prioritize repairs based on urgency and impact on operations. Be comfortable with technology for reporting/data collection Safety Follow safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment and prevent accidents or injuries. Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in automotive technology, and regulatory requirements related to fleet maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or certification in automotive technology or certification in small engine repair or a related field preferred. Experience as a fleet/automotive mechanic, small engine repair, with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience. Strong knowledge of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical components. Strong knowledge of small engine mechanics, including two-stroke and four-stroke engines, and hydraulic systems. Knowledge of diesel engine and emissions. Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagnostic codes. Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Physical ability to lift heavy objects and work in various weather conditions. Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of business. Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to safety regulations.
Pay:
$70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
