$20.00 per hour (Starting pay based on experience) About McKinney Truck Equipment McKinney Truck Equipment is a premier commercial fleet upfitter located in Van Alstyne, TX. We specialize in transforming brand-new cargo vans and service trucks into high-functioning mobile workspaces for our fleet partners. We are currently expanding our team and looking for a skilled 12V Electrical and Installation Technician who takes pride in professional-grade production and clean, repeatable results. Job Description As a Fleet Upfit Technician, you will be responsible for the installation of essential commercial equipment and 12-volt electrical systems. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual who enjoys working on new vehicle chassis and understands the importance of consistent, high-quality installations in a production environment.Job Responsibilities:
12V Electrical Installation:
Professional mounting and wiring of strobes, light bars, work lights, power inverters, backup cameras, and telematics/GPS systems.Component Integration:
Install commercial-grade vehicle equipment including toppers, steps, toolboxes, van equipment, bumpers, and ladder racks.Technical Standards:
Ensure all wiring is routed safely, loomed professionally, and secured with heat-shrink connections to meet company quality standards. Bolts are torqued and equipment is installed properlyWork Order & Diagram Reading:
Interpret work orders and wiring diagrams to ensure every vehicle in a fleet build is identical and meets client specifications.Quality Assurance:
Perform final functionality tests on all electrical components and mechanical installs prior to vehicle delivery.Shop Efficiency:
Maintain a clean and organized workspace to support a safe and productive shop flow.Job Requirements:
Experience:
1+ year(s) of verifiable experience with 12V electrical systems or automotive accessory installation.Technical Skill:
Strong understanding of 12V circuitry, relays, and basic electrical troubleshooting.Mechanical Aptitude:
Proficiency with power tools, hand tools, and precision measuring (drilling into new vehicle bodies is a daily requirement). Attention toDetail:
A commitment to "clean" installs, avoiding cluttered wiring and ensuring all hardware is properly torqued.Driver's License:
Valid unrestricted driver's license and a clean driving record.Tools:
Possession of basic hand tools and 12V electrical tools (strippers, crimpers).Professionalism:
Punctual, reliable, and able to work effectively as part of a specialized team.Compensation and Benefits:
