Flight Software Engineer Job Description We are seeking a talented Flight Software Engineer who will play a crucial role in developing software for space vehicles and related systems. This position requires strong experience in C++ programming within the space domain, as well as experience in real-time Linux environments. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of developing mission-critical software and possess a deep understanding of user-centered design principles. Responsibilities Develop and maintain embedded or mission-critical software in real-time Linux or comparable RTOS environments. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets the needs of the space vehicle systems. Utilize proficiency in C++ to design and implement software solutions. Conduct usability testing, user interviews, and surveys to improve software design and functionality. Solve complex problems creatively and effectively within the space domain. Essential Skills 2 years of relevant experience with a bachelor's degree in STEM, or equivalent experience with higher degrees. Proficiency in C++ programming within the space domain. Experience with real-time Linux (RT Linux) or comparable RTOS environments. Active DoD Secret Clearance required at the time of application. Strong understanding of user-centered design principles. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with test data, including usability testing and data validation. Knowledge of front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, or Vue.js. Familiarity with version control systems like Git. Understanding of accessibility standards and best practices. Work Environment The role is based in an office environment, potentially within a Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF) for individuals with appropriate clearance. The position involves work on significant space domain programs, impacting space vehicle capabilities and security. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Redondo Beach, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $75.00 - $100.00/hr.
