Job Description
JOB Brunswick County Code Administration is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Floodplain Administrator to join our dedicated team and support our community's floodplain management efforts. This role involves intermediate-level technical and administrative work reviewing development applications for compliance with established floodplain regulations. The ideal candidate will maintain a strong working understanding of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and serve as a key point of contact for floodplain-related inquiries.
The Floodplain Administrator reviews applications and related documents to ensure they meet approved floodplain regulations, maintains current knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program, and interacts daily with the public, professionals, and representatives from local, state, and federal agencies regarding floodplain issues. The position also involves preparing, organizing, and maintaining required documentation, while providing high-quality customer service and clear communication to engineers, contractors, municipal officials, and members of the public.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Tasks involve the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects typically, involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (up to 20 pounds). Position is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, extreme heat and cold, and hazards.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
