Position Overview Primary Function:
This position assists the Custodial - Floor Care Lead in providing routine custodial services with a specialization in floor care. Performs routine custodial work as needed and delivers custodial equipment and supplies at the direction of the Lead, Supervisor, and/or Manager. The position is responsible for performing duties in accordance with established organizational policies and procedures of the institution and the department. Position must adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Supports the mission of the University and the department, including receptivity to new initiatives as may be set forth by the Office of Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability (OESS). This position receives direct supervision in which assignments and instructions are clearly and regularly explained. Completed assignments are routinely reviewed by the supervisor for correctness.Position Appointment Details:

NE5 Hourly position Typical shift is 5:00 am - 1:30 pm, with a 30-minute mandatory lunch; may be assigned an alternative shift time at the discretion of management; split or night shift could be required in the future Some weekend and event work may be requiredPosition Description Typical Duties & Responsibilities:
At the direction of the lead, assists in the performance of all types of floor care needed for hard surface and carpeting throughout facilities, including stairwells and elevators. Assists with moving furniture and other objects and prepares the floor by sweeping and washing. Operates all equipment with care and according to facility and manufacturer's safety standards and procedures, including but not limited to electrically-powered floor machines such as scrubbers and buffer machines, vacuums, brooms, mops, etc. Mixes and applies stripping and rinsing solutions to waxed floor surfaces in accordance with the manufacturer's recommended applications and protocols. Uses a wet pick up vacuum and mop to remove stripped solution and applies floor wax. Assists with cleaning and performing routine maintenance on floor equipment - Oils, changes belts and minor parts on floor and carpet cleaning tools; requesting assistance as needed to keep all machines and equipment operational. Reporting any service to the Floor Care Lead for recording on the logs. Assists in delivering custodial cleaning supplies and equipment as needed. Performs project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs. May include tasks such as set-up/dismantling for events and conferences; delivery of items in support of Building Services or Sets and Events. Reports building security problems, damaged structures or equipment, and other maintenance problems to the lead or supervisor and/or manager. May be assigned temporary custodial work due to staffing. Assists with exterior window cleaning in elevated areas. Attends training and information sessions as required. Other duties and tasks as assigned.
