Job Description
Dough Monster is seeking a thoughtful, reliable, and detail-oriented shop crew member who can contribute to the quality of our service, the consistency of our systems, and the overall experience our customers have come to expect, especially during high-volume weekend rushes. Dough Monster is a doughnut and specialty drink shop with a loyal customer base and a distinct identity within the local food landscape. We are a small, closely connected team that takes craft, hospitality, and operational consistency seriously. We also care deeply about building a workplace where people can feel pride in the work, connection to the shop, and a shared responsibility for the experience we create together. Dough Monster serves all kinds of people, and we believe everyone deserves to feel welcome here. Kindness, patience, and respect are not secondary to speed and consistency. They are part of the standard. The role FOH Service & Kitchen Support Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week 5 shifts per week with a 7 AM start time Weekday shifts are typically 7 AM to 11 AM Weekend shifts are typically 7 AM to 12 PM Friday through Sunday availability is required We are flexible on the two additional weekday shifts This is a tipped position, but we do not pay a reduced tipped wage. With tips, this role typically works out to $15/hour or more , with higher earning potential on busy Saturdays and Sundays. What you'll find here A shop with regulars who are genuinely invested in the place. People drive out of their way, bring friends, ask questions, notice details, and return because the experience feels worth repeating. A small team where individual contribution is visible. When you learn a process, improve a station, support a rush, or help the day run more smoothly, that work matters in a direct and observable way. Owners who are present in the work. We are in the shop, in the kitchen, on the floor, and actively building the systems the team uses every day. Training, clear standards, and honest feedback. You will not be expected to intuit what "good" means. We will define it, teach it, practice it, and help you improve toward it. A workplace with personality. We care deeply about precision, quality, and consistency, but we also want the shop to feel human, warm, and genuinely fun to be part of. A workplace that is trying to be sustainable for real people. We expect care, effort, and attention, but we also believe people do better work when they are treated with dignity and fairness. What you'll be doing Taking orders and running the counter Greeting customers promptly when they enter the shop Answering questions and helping customers feel cared for, even when the shop is busy Packing doughnuts with care, because nobody likes a smashed doughnut Making specialty drinks consistently and carefully, because daily coffee should not be a gamble Running food from the kitchen to front of house Helping with light prep, stocking, cleaning, and other support tasks as needed What we're looking for Someone who genuinely likes people, enjoys making someone's day a little better, and can offer friendly, confident customer service Someone who shows up reliably and is ready to work The ability to stay warm, helpful, and composed with customers, even when the shift becomes demanding Steady effort, attention to detail, and pride in doing things the same way every time The ability to follow shop SOPs, even when the reason is simply that sameness matters Comfort working in a shop where consistency, speed, safety, and quality are all part of the same standard The ability to move between tasks and help keep the day flowing Food service or café experience is a plus, but not required. We will train the right person. We have specific ways we do things, from the counter to the kitchen, because consistency is part of the Dough Monster experience. Sometimes the reason is speed, safety, quality, or service flow. Sometimes the reason is simply sameness. The same thing done the same way every time is part of how the shop holds together. This is an active, on-your-feet role in a small shop. Some rushes can mean nonstop food and drink making for an hour or more. There is occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, but it is not constant. We are not an "if you have time to lean, you have time to clean" kind of shop. If you have time to lean, take a breath, reset, then look around and help move the day forward. Sustainable effort is the target, not burnout. Because we are a small team, the role changes throughout the shift. You may be helping customers one moment, then stocking, cleaning, prepping, or helping the kitchen keep up the next. This is a strong fit for someone who enjoys people, takes pride in small details, respects process, and wants to be part of a shop where the work is visible, practical, and meaningful.
