Job Description
Company Overview Spaulding Academy & Family Services is a dedicated provider of educational, residential, therapeutic, and community-based programs serving children and youth with neurological, emotional, behavioral, learning, or developmental challenges. Established in 1871, it is the oldest child care organization in operation in its region, committed to enriching lives through compassionate care and innovative support services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Listed below are the essential functions of this position. Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without a requested reasonable accommodation. Preparation, planning and delivery of predominantly 'from-scratch'/home-cooked breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks, meeting the nutrition, unique dietary and food allergy needs of our students Ensures ongoing and diverse menu planning and meal selection Management, scheduling, training and hiring staff to include evaluations, coaching, team building and disciplinary issues. Staff skills and knowledge training Establish standards for personnel performance and customer service Team building with the kitchen staff and campus wide Preparation of staff payroll Supports compliance with OSHA Safety Standards for kitchens, health, and sanitation codes and with school lunch requirements. Support student vocational training. Support planning and execution of special events, including Community Dinner. Serves as a member of Spaulding's Senior Leadership team, and will represent the Food Services Department on Health and Wellness, and other campus-wide committees Is familiar with Spaulding's Safety Program and adheres to all provisions of the written safety plan. Respectful of equipment and/or working environment; promotes an environment free from conduct that violates the rights of others. Effectively collaborates with the Registered Dietician. Hands on meal preparation as needed. Performs other duties as assignedEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
College degree in Culinary Arts and/or Hospitality or a minimum of 5 years management experience in the Food Service Industry. ServSafe Certified or the ability to become ServSafe Certified. Experience preparing nutritionally balanced meals with special emphasis on student dietary needs.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal with difficult situations calmly and professionally. Collaborative and team focused Ability to effectively communicate, build and sustain an effective, productive and engaged team Strong Organizational skills Excellent Time management Ability to use Word and ExcelSCHEDULE
Full-time weekdays, 8 am to 4 pm. Shift schedule will vary occasionally to include evenings and weekends depending on events, staffing and special conditions.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Normally a typical busy commercial kitchen and office environment, with minimal exposure to excessive noise or adverse environmental issues, with occasional outdoor exposure to heat, cold and environmental elements.SPECIAL DEMANDS
Ability to work in busy environment serving children with unique and special needsPHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work involves sustained standing and frequent liftingPay:
