Job Title:
Forklift Operator Job Description This role involves safely operating forklifts and related material handling equipment to move, store, and prepare products for shipment within a warehouse environment. The position focuses on accurate inventory handling, efficient loading and unloading, and strict adherence to safety procedures and company policies while supporting fast-paced warehouse operations. Responsibilities Operate sit-down forklifts and other material handling equipment to transport materials safely throughout the warehouse. Receive and inspect incoming shipments to verify accuracy, quality, and condition of materials. Unload trucks and move inventory to designated storage or staging areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, and other equipment. Pick and pack orders accurately using RF scanners and other warehouse systems. Prepare materials for packaging and shipping, ensuring proper labeling, wrapping, and palletizing. Use RF scanners to track inventory movements and maintain accurate inventory records. Assist with shipping and receiving activities, including loading outbound trucks and organizing outgoing orders. Handle pallets and materials efficiently using pallet jacks and other warehouse tools. Follow all safety procedures, warehouse guidelines, and company policies at all times. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, promptly reporting any hazards or equipment issues. Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to meet daily productivity and quality goals. Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high attention to detail and accuracy. Essential Skills At least 1 year of recent forklift operating experience, including having operated a forklift within the last year. Proven experience as a forklift operator or material handler in a warehouse or similar environment. Valid forklift certification. Proficiency operating sit-down forklifts and using pallet jacks. Experience with material handling, including loading, unloading, picking, and packing. Ability to use RF scanners for picking, inventory tracking, and shipping tasks. Familiarity with warehouse operations, processes, and safety standards. Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills to maintain accurate inventory records. Effective communication and teamwork abilities to coordinate with colleagues and support shared goals. Additional Skills & Qualifications Demonstrated reliability and consistency in previous warehouse or logistics roles. Comfort working with shipping and receiving processes, including preparing orders for outbound shipments. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and workload demands in a busy warehouse setting. Work Environment This position is based in a warehouse environment that supports high-volume material handling and logistics operations. You will work around forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment, frequently moving throughout the facility and handling pallets and inventory. The work is fast-paced and physically active, requiring regular lifting, moving, and organizing of materials. Safety standards are a central focus, with clear procedures and guidelines to follow. Typical warehouse attire is expected, suitable for operating equipment and performing hands-on tasks in an industrial setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sellersburg, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $17.25/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
