FRONT DESK CLERK

$24.10 - $28.92 PER HOUR
JOB SUMMARY:
The Front Desk Clerk is responsible for collecting payments, providing customer service, and assist the Accountant with financial and administrative tasks as necessary.
TYPICAL DUTIES
Processes the majority of payments for the City. Responsible for financial control of incoming monies. Ensures proper accounting for payments of fees, fines, assessments, etc. If the proper departmental account is not immediately apparent, performs inquiries to determine proper account code. Provides assistance to both internal and external customers in person. Answers Citywide Customer Service telephone line and directs calls to the appropriate personnel/department. Balances daily receipts against the cashiering totals and prepares a bank deposit each business day. Maintains organized files of daily deposit reports and the daily deposit log. Provides support to Business License Specialist. Assists public in filling out applications for various business and liquor licenses. Reconciles multiple department daily reconciliations to ensure monthly accounting accuracy. Collects, sorts and distributes incoming mail and various accounting reports and documents. Charges all outgoing mail to the proper department. Maintains the Citywide phone directory and the Finance department webpage. Requests updates from departments monthly. Uploads and publishes the new directory on the City's website. Assists the Accountant with providing direction and collecting applications for the City's purchasing card program. All other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school graduate or equivalent (G.E.D.) and two years of experience with cashiering and customer service or demonstrated equivalent in formal education and/or experience. Knowledge of basic principles and practices of clerical accounting and bookkeeping. Computer literacy in Microsoft Office software.
