Full Job Description Full-Time Diagnostic Lab Technician Hours:
full-time, first shift
Location:
1163 Comet Ln, Grand Ledge, MI 48837 Full-time Laboratory Technicians who work in diagnostics, work as part of a team in a state-of-the-art laboratory environment. Under the guidance of the Diagnostic Technical Specialist, Laboratory Technicians who work in diagnostics, carefully process and analyze milk, blood, tissue, fecal, etc. samples for a variety of diagnostic tests. They ensure laboratory equipment is operating properly, while making sure all samples are processed in a timely and accurate manner by following standard-operating procedures and strict quality-control measures. They report test results directly to dairy and beef producers across the Midwest that are directly applicable to making herd-management decisions and enhancing profitability on their farming operations.
Daily activities:
Utilize and maintain state-of-the-art laboratory equipment involved in sample processing, DNA extraction, real-time PCR, and ELISA methods; Analyze samples for, including but not limited to: pregnancy, mastitis-causing pathogens, Johne's Disease, leukosis (Bovine Leukemia Virus), Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus, Neospora, NEFA, and progesterone; and Action diagnostic-testing strategies while learning how they benefit herd-management decisions.
Qualifications:
Laboratory experience, preferably with ELISA and PCR methods; Detailed record-keeping and organization skills; Outstanding people skills, with service-orientated attitude; Excellent communication skills; Ability to regularly sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, lift, and carry objects up to 50 pounds; and a Strong work ethic, with ability to work on your own, as well as in a team structure. A dairy-farm background is preferred, but not mandatory.
