Job Opening Information Full-time Maintenance Mechanic Application Deadline 5/29/2026 Position Title Full-time Maintenance Mechanic Required Application Type School Related Personnel Salary/Pay Scale $19.14/hr Job Description This is a full-time position in our Maintenance Dept., starting ASAP . Hours are 6:30am - 3pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a wide variety of electrical fixtures, equipment and systems. Installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds a wide variety of plumbing equipment systems. Performs a wide variety of steam fitting, forging, welding, sheet metal fabricating or machine shop activities. Makes, assembles, installs, maintains, repairs and rebuilds doors, stairs, walls, floors, desks, chairs, cabinets, tables and other wood products, equipment and structures. Performs and assists staff in corrective (repair) and preventive maintenance at all District facilities on items, such as mechanical systems and equipment; heating and cooling systems and equipment; temperature control systems; fire alarms and automatic sprinkler systems; electrical systems and equipment; plumbing and sewer systems and equipment; program clocks and signal systems, including building communication systems; lawnmowers, snow blowers and other grounds care equipment; general repair of building furnishings. Performs and assists staff with site maintenance and repair work at all District facilities, such as snow removal, including operating truck-mounted snowplows and sanding equipment; and lawn irrigation system maintenance. Performs and assists staff in providing miscellaneous maintenance services at all District facilities, such as replacing filters and vents, replacing light bulbs and fluorescent tubes where scaffold is needed; removing graffiti from surfaces; delivering and/or moving supplies, materials, furniture and equipment. Responds to facility emergencies when needed. Works on remodeling projects when needed. Maintains assigned vehicles, tools, and equipment. Prepares, paints and refinishes wood, metal and other surfaces. Performs duties of custodian/cleaner in their absence. Carries out any other assigned duties and/or responsibilities by the Superintendent of Schools and the Board of Education. Civil Service Title Maintenance Mechanic Job Qualifications Good knowledge of one or more of the mechanical or construction trades such as carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical repair, welding, sheet metal work, blacksmith, masonry and related trades including common practices, tools, terminology and accident precautions. Ability to work from plans, specifications and rough specifications. Good eye-hand coordination. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. Be very neat and thorough. Must be willing to follow oral and written instructions. Good moral character, personal cleanliness, courteous, neat, cooperative attitude, dependable and loyal, completely trustworthy and honest.
